Every year (since 2015) I say I will make a quilt for Quiltcon. I have.
And every year I say I'm going to start early (I have never) and every year when I'm in the thick of things I wonder "Why do I do this to myself? Why can't I budget my time better?
I do not know the answers to these questions but I do know I would like them.
Just recently I have gotten into listening to podcasts, I know so late to the game. I started with a podcast called "Happier with Gretchen Rubin" and it's about...how to be happier! Surprise! I have gotten so many good tips and tricks from listening while I sew. I highly recommend tuning in.
The very first episode includes a simple concept that has actually worked for me: If it takes a minute or less, do it. I going around reminding myself of this all day. You should try it and you'll see just how often it helps you out.
The other thing I can't stop thinking about is how we all have a different tendency.
Upholder, Questioner, Obliger, and Rebel.
I guessed that I was a questioner but then I took her quiz and it turns out I'm a rebel !! Eek! Someone who struggles to meet both inner and outer expectations. Huh?
I still have way more information to gather on how to utilize this new information to improve my quilty work habits but so far it's a start and I even began reading the book "Better Than Before" to help me form different work (and life habits)
This year, maybe because of what I've learned I didn't stress nearly as much and I even finished with a couple days to spare.
Stay tuned for more Quiltcon quilt talk.
Love,
Giedra
